“She Was There Too”
Maua Bio Magazine, in collaboration with aBantu Archives, presents a short series of historical excerpts spotlighting the overlooked contributions of African women in Rhodesian society.
These accounts, curated by aBantu Archives, are drawn from the 1975 publication Profiles of Rhodesia’s Women, published by the National Federation of Business and Professional Women in Rhodesia in association with Sarum Imprint, to commemorate International Women’s Day.
Each excerpt offers a glimpse into the lives and work of African women who made significant, though often unrecognised, contributions in their respective fields.
Their names weren’t in the headlines – but their footprints shaped history.
Through this series, aBantu Archives continues its mission to preserve and share the dynamic history of the Central African region, shaping perspectives, honouring memory, and reconnecting us with the past.
